Direct Support Professional

OverviewWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. This role is essential in providing support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving and a strong commitment to fostering independence and dignity among those they serve.DutiesAssist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.Provide patient care and support in various settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or home care environments.Monitor and document vital signs and changes in client conditions, ensuring accurate patient observation.Implement care plans tailored to individual needs, including medication administration and adherence to HIPAA regulations.Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation, particularly for those with Alzheimer’s or dementia care needs.Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties as necessary.Support clients with mobility challenges using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when required.Foster positive relationships with clients while promoting their independence and self-esteem through direct support.QualificationsPrevious experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in long-term care settings is preferred.Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.Experience in home health, hospice care, or memory care is a plus.Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including individuals with autism.Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed to assist clients safely.Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques and caregiving best practices is essential.A background in social work or nursing can be beneficial for this role.
