Position: Automotive Technician / GM Technician
We are seeking a skilled-level Automotive Technician who can diagnose and repair vehicles across a variety of systems while demonstrating particular strength in key areas of automotive repair.
The ideal candidate has previous dealership experience and has progressed from a B-Class or general service technician role. GM service experience is strongly preferred, and transmission repair experience is a plus.
What You'll Do
- Perform repairs and maintenance according to repair orders, dealership procedures, and factory standards.
- Diagnose vehicle malfunctions and determine the appropriate repair.
- Complete repairs efficiently, accurately, and safely.
- Communicate with the Parts Department to obtain necessary parts.
- Save and properly tag replaced parts when required for warranty work or requested by the customer.
- Inspect vehicles for additional safety, maintenance, or service needs.
- Communicate promptly with the Service Advisor when additional work is needed, recommended work is unnecessary, or repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeframe.
- Accurately document all work performed and recommended on repair orders.
- Road-test vehicles when necessary or coordinate with the designated test technician.
- Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, technical schools, and industry events.
- Stay current on manufacturer technical bulletins, repair procedures, and evolving automotive technology.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, and other automotive repair equipment to complete repairs efficiently and accurately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA requirements and hazardous-waste disposal procedures.
- Follow all dealership safety policies and procedures.
Automotive Technician Qualifications
Preferred:
- Previous GM dealership/service experience
- ASE Certification
- 3 years of automotive technician experience
- Transmission repair experience
- Previous dealership or professional automotive repair experience
Required:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Reliable and dependable with a strong work ethic
- Ability to follow instructions and established repair procedures
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check
