Seeking a 5th and 6th Grade Orchestra and Kindergarten through 4th Music Teacher beginning August 2026 at Liberty Common Elementary School – Aristotle Campus, a Poudre School District charter school dedicated to Hirsch Core Knowledge principles. The school currently enrolls over 400 K-6 students.
Liberty Common School offers a unique educational program with an expanded science curriculum. This is done through parental choice, partnership with teachers, and student acceptance of responsibility for his/her academic effort.
The Orchestra/Music Teacher and the school’s Band and Choir Teachers have joint responsibility for planning and delivering the school’s K-6 music program, which seeks to integrate music skills and knowledge across the curriculum. The Orchestra/Music Teacher will have responsibility for the lower grades’ music program. Applicants will work closely with the classroom teachers to coordinate the portions of the Core Knowledge Sequence taught in their classrooms with the Music portion of the Sequence, and to develop innovative lesson plans bringing classroom learning to life in a music setting.
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Salary Exempt
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time
WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week
COMPENSATION: $50,000.00-$75,000.00
REPORTS TO: Principal

Minimum Essential Duties:
- Research and gather resources and materials needed for lesson units
- Set up classroom materials and equipment
- Enforce administrative policies and rules governing students
- Conduct testing and evaluate student work
- Conduct student interventions
- Monitor, assess, and report on student’s progress
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with teachers, other faculty, students, and parents
- Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
- Maintain inventory of materials, equipment, or products
- Adapt communication and teaching styles when necessary to support individual students and their families
Minimum Requirements:
- Desire and willingness to learn about Liberty’s history and philosophy and uphold and promote the mission and values of the school
- Demonstrated competence in a relevant discipline
- BA/BS, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- Ability and willingness to teach the Core Knowledge Sequence©
- Demonstrated effective classroom-management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, internet utilization, and general aptitude for learning new software applications
- Ability and willingness to work effectively with peers and team members to improve student academic achievement.
Preferred Characteristics:
- Experience with the Core Knowledge Curriculum & demonstrated ability in teaching this curriculum.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multiple teams.
- Demonstrated effective music curriculum development ability for grades k-6.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to maneuver uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to carry or transfer up to 20lbs of supplies frequently.
- Must be able to work in occasionally loud environments.
- Must be able to frequently use office technology including computers, copiers, and printers.
