Liberty Common School is seeking a Communications Associate beginning Mon 6 JUL 2026. Liberty Common School is a public, tuition-free school chartered by the Poudre School District in Fort Collins, Colorado, utilizing the Core Knowledge© curriculum and timeless principles of classically oriented education. Liberty Common School currently enrolls over 1,600 students grades k-12.
Liberty Common School follows the Core Knowledge© curriculum in grades k–8. This curriculum encompasses language arts, mathematics, science, history, geography, fine arts, and physical education. The curriculum is characterized by honors-level instruction, cumulative knowledge, content-specific lessons, and coherent sequencing.
The school’s mission is to provide excellence and fairness in education by teaching a contextual body of organized knowledge, the skills of learning, and the values of a democratic society. This is done through parental choice, partnership with teachers, and student acceptance of responsibility for her/his academic effort.
Position Summary
This role is responsible for planning and executing school-communications activities as part of the Advancement Team. The position supports the school’s public-facing communications in charter-school awareness, school-choice advocacy, including collaboration with community organizations and strategic partners.
This role works closely with the Director of Advancement, Communications Specialist, Headmaster, and other school leaders to ensure outreach communications are clear, consistent, and mission-aligned.
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Salary Non-Exempt
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, full-time
WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week
SALARY RANGE: 40,000.00-$50,000.00
REPORTS TO: Director of Advancement

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of school-outreach initiatives
- Manage and organize school-sponsored outreach events, including enrollment events, open houses, community events, and fundraising gatherings
- Support the development and execution of public-relations strategies promoting the school and its leadership role in charter-school advocacy
- Assist with the development, design, and distribution of outreach-focused communications, including:
- Enrollment and admissions materials
- Event promotions
- School advancement
- Fundraising communications
- Monitor outreach and communications channels for engagement and feedback
- Attend meetings, as needed, to successfully orchestrate job duties and tasks
Minimum Requirements
- Philosophical alignment, clear understanding, and dedication to the mission and philosophy of Liberty Common School as expressed in its Charter, Bylaws, policies, and by its Board of Directors, and Headmaster
- Excellent communication skills, especially written
- Proven, successful experience in this or a related field
- Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and general web-based tools
- Ability and willingness to work effectively with peers and team members to improve student academic achievement
Desired Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA in English, journalism, communications, public relations, business education, law, or marketing) or higher, and/or equivalent work experience
- Experience copywriting, editing, and content development for multiple audiences and platforms (print, email, social media, etc.)
- Experience posting and maintaining events on local and regional event platforms (e.g., community calendars, school directories, local media sites, Facebook Events, Eventbrite, etc.)
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and project-management skills
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to last-minute assignments while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience supporting social-media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube)
- Experience with graphic-design and layout tools (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, or similar)
- Experience with email-marketing systems (Constant Contact, ActiveCampaign, Finalsite, or similar)
- Experience with Finalsite Composer or Finalsite web tools
- Experience conducting A/B testing for email subject lines, content layouts, or calls-to-action to improve engagement and conversion
- Ability to analyze email and campaign-performance metrics (open rates, click-through rates, conversions) and apply insights to future campaigns
- Familiarity with audience segmentation for enrollment or event-based communications
- Second-language fluency, especially writing
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to maneuver uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to carry or transfer up to 20lbs of supplies frequently.
- Must be able to work in occasionally loud environments.
- Must be able to frequently use office technology including computers, copiers, and printers.
- Must be able to use commercial office tools including paper cutters and staplers
