What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Instructional Coach position at Liberal USD 480?
LOCATION: USD 480 Liberal (District Wide Position)
PURPOSE: The Instructional Coach will serve as an instructional leader to provide staff development, support, and direct
feedback to teachers about the implementation of research-based programs, instructional strategies, and assessments to help
meet the individual needs of students with an IEP.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Special Education Director
WORK WITH: Special Education Coordinators/Principals
PAYMENT RATE: Pay in Accordance to Negotiated Agreement
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current Kansas State Teaching Licensure with Endorsement Appropriate in Special Education
2. At Least 3 Years Experience as a Classroom Instructor Preferred
3. Leadership and Instructional Coaching Experience Preferred
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Support other teachers for the purpose of
providing assistance, guidance, and/or aid
- Participate in necessary meetings, trainings, and conferences related to Special Education
- Prepare a variety of documents, files, and records for the purpose of communicating to staff
- Meets regularly with instructional coaches, district teacher leaders, administrators, special education coordinators,and Special Education Director
- Maintain a variety of confidential and
non-confidential manual and electronic documents, files, lists, and records for the purpose of
documenting activities and information
- Support teachers in the development of
individualized methods of instruction
- Provide curriculum support and/or assist in the development of specialized accommodations
- Support mission and vision of Liberal Public Schools
- Nurtures positive relationships with special education staff, as well as all district staff
- Coordinate and adapt special education services and programs for the purpose of delivering services to meet the individual needs of each student
- IEP goal development and progress monitoring
- Supports teachers with paraprofessional needs
- Evaluate special education programs
- Presents information on a variety of topics for the purpose to provide direction, communicate information, and gain feedback
- Test special education students of interim teachers (When Applicable)
- Assists and/or attends the presentations of professional learning opportunities provided by the district
- Assists in the planning of professional development for paraprofessionals in the special education department
- Continues personal and professional development for enhancement
- Other duties deemed necessary
