TITLE: District Communications Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field.
- Five years of communications work experience
- Proficiency with communications technologies
- Experience with stakeholder and community engagement
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
JOB GOAL:
Build and maintain a positive public image for USD 480. Create media that tell the USD 480 story and increase awareness of its brand.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops, executes and evaluates social media packages and marketing plans to promote district and schools.
- Manages social media for the district, setting guidelines, planning and providing content, and providing staff training as needed.
- Writes, edits, and publishes a variety of communications to facilitate and enhance awareness of school district programs, events, activities, and accomplishments.
- Ensures brand and messaging quality and consistency and establishes guidelines to apply across all departments, activities, and events.
- Coordinates crisis communications for the district and participates in school safety planning efforts.
- Provides professional public relations counsel and assistance to the district office administration, board of education, and school administrators.
- Contacts media representatives to initiate articles, news releases, and social media about district and school events.
- Creates press kits and other media information.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS:
Requirements may include prolonged sitting or standing, physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials, climbing stairs, stooping, bending and reaching; also includes travel.
EVALUATION:
Coordinator will be evaluated by the superintendent in accordance with the Board of Education’s policy.
