About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established multi-location organization, is seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations and payroll system administration. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while driving process improvements and supporting a high-performing payroll function.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a multi-state employee population.
- Lead and develop payroll staff while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee payroll tax reporting, reconciliations, garnishments, deductions, and year-end processing.
- Partner with HR and Finance to ensure employee and compensation data are accurately reflected in payroll.
- Serve as the payroll subject matter expert for regulatory compliance and best practices.
- Maintain payroll systems, troubleshoot issues, and recommend process enhancements.
- Support audits, reporting requests, and payroll-related analytics.
- Ensure confidentiality and strong internal controls across payroll operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred.
- 5 years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-state payroll administration.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and payroll compliance.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
- Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms.
Preferred Experience
- Payroll certification (CPP) preferred.
- Experience within property management, construction, real estate, or other multi-location environments.
- Background in payroll system implementations or process improvement initiatives.
