What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at LHH?
We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our growing team. This individual will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project plans and specifications, soliciting subcontractor and vendor pricing, and supporting project teams throughout the preconstruction process. The ideal candidate has strong construction knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
• Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure scope coverage and competitive pricing.
• Prepare bid packages, estimate summaries, and project budgets for management review.
• Coordinate with project managers, field teams, architects, engineers, and clients during the preconstruction phase.
• Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
• Maintain accurate estimating databases, historical cost information, and vendor relationships.
• Assist with change order pricing and project cost analysis as needed.
• Participate in project handoff meetings to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to operations.
Qualifications
• 3 years of estimating experience within commercial, industrial, civil, residential, or specialty construction.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building systems.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs and bid analysis.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
• Experience with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Procore, Sage, or similar construction software.
• Knowledge of budgeting, project scheduling, and procurement processes.
