Project Accountant - Commercial Construction - Houston, Tx

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team and handle the financial side of construction projects. This person will work closely with project managers, vendors, and leadership to keep billing, payables, and job costing accurate and up to date. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-focused environment and have a knack for numbers, this role is a great fit.
What You’ll Do
- Handle project billing, invoices, and collections to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage project budgets, track costs, and maintain updated job cost reports.
- Process subcontractor and vendor invoices according to contract terms.
- Support change order entries and update project financial data as needed.
- Prepare billing schedules, budgets, and financial reports before and during each project.
- Communicate regularly with internal teams, clients, and vendors to resolve billing or payment issues.
- Participate in cost-to-complete reviews and help improve project forecasting.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in construction accounting or project-based accounting.
- Knowledge of AIA billing, job costing, and percent-complete accounting methods.
- Experience with ERP and construction management software (such as Business Central, Procore, GCPay, or Textura).
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and time management.
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with all levels of the team.
Work Environment
This position is based in an office setting. The work involves sitting for long periods, occasional walking or standing, and light lifting (up to 40 lbs).
