Summary:
The Development Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of Energy Storage System (ESS) battery pack and link products. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality, Production Engineering, Supply Chain, and Product Development to ensure products meet performance, safety, quality, and customer requirements.
Depending on level, the Development Engineer may support development activities under guidance, lead technical projects independently, or provide strategic technical leadership for complex ESS product initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Support the design, development, validation, and launch of ESS (Energy Storage System) Pack and Link products
- Develop and maintain engineering specifications, test plans, technical documentation, and design standards
- Lead or support new product introduction (NPI) activities from concept through production launch
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Production Engineering, Supply Chain, and Product Management teams to ensure successful product development and implementation
- Conduct engineering analysis, performance evaluations, and root cause investigations to identify and resolve technical issues
- Support prototype builds, product testing, and validation activities to ensure compliance with performance, quality, and safety requirements
- Analyze test data and provide recommendations for product improvements, design modifications, and corrective actions
- Support component selection, qualification, and validation activities for ESS Pack and Link systems
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and engineering change management processes
- Evaluate product performance, reliability, and manufacturability to support continuous improvement initiatives
- Coordinate technical activities and communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to management and stakeholders
- Collaborate with global engineering teams to support product development, technology transfer, and standardization efforts
- Support cost reduction, quality improvement, and process optimization initiatives
- Maintain technical records, engineering documentation, and project files in accordance with company requirements
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, regulatory, and customer requirements
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and cross-functional team members (Engineer II and Senior levels)
- Lead complex development projects and technical initiatives with minimal supervision (Senior level)
- Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:

- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent, relevant experience
- Master's degree preferred for Senior level positions
- Experience with battery systems, ESS products, electrical integration, or energy storage technologies preferred
Experience:
- Level I: 0-3 years of experience in a manufacturing production related position or equivalent, relevant experience
- Experience supporting product development, testing, validation, manufacturing, or engineering projects preferred
- Experience in battery systems, ESS products, automotive, manufacturing, or energy industries preferred
- Level II: 3-6 years of experience in a manufacturing production related position or equivalent, relevant experience
- Experience independently managing engineering projects and technical problem-solving activities
- Experience supporting new product launches and cross-functional engineering initiatives preferred
- Experience in battery systems, ESS products, automotive, manufacturing, or energy industries preferred
- Sr. Level: 6 years of experience in a manufacturing production related position or equivalent, relevant experience
- Experience leading complex engineering projects and technical initiatives
- Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring experience
- Experience working with global engineering teams and manufacturing organizations preferred
- Experience in battery systems, ESS products, automotive, manufacturing, or energy industries preferred
Skills:
