Investment Operations Trader
Summary:
The Investment Operations Trader is responsible for executing model-driven trades across client accounts, ensuring accurate and timely execution of portfolio strategy decisions. This role supports the firm’s trading platform by executing trades as requested, managing trade sessions, processing rebalances, monitoring execution quality, and producing post-trade reporting.
This position is operationally focused, requiring precision, efficiency, strong systems knowledge, and the ability to manage high-volume trade workflows in a controlled environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Trade Execution & Rebalancing
- Execute model-based trades across client accounts using firm trading systems.
- Execute Ad-Hoc trade requests from advisors using firm trading systems.
- Process portfolio rebalances generated through trade sessions.
- Monitor trade allocations for accuracy and model alignment.
- Identify and resolve trade exceptions, restrictions, and account-specific issues.
Model Revising
- Implement updates to investment models across investment platforms with accuracy.
- Ensure proper mapping of accounts to models.
- Assist in updating and adding new models or modifications to existing strategies.
Reporting & Auditing
- Generate and distribute post-trade reports.
- Monitor cash balances and ensure accurate settlement activity.
- Maintain documentation supporting compliance and audit requirements.
- Request and execute trade corrections and resolve discrepancies.
Operational Controls & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to firm policies, trading guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- Support compliance reviews and trade surveillance processes.
- Maintain accurate trading records and audit trails.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Investment Director, Investment Committee Compliance, Client Service, and Operations teams.
- Communicate trade activity and issues clearly and promptly.
- Contribute to process improvements and workflow automation projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, or related field.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage high trade volumes with accuracy.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point, and reporting systems.
- FINRA SIE exam, Series 7, Series 66, State Insurance license (or ability to complete within 90 days)
- APMA (or ability to complete within 90 days)
Preferred
- 2 years of experience in trading, investment operations, or portfolio administration.
- Experience with model-driven portfolio management systems.
- Experience in RIA, asset management, or institutional investment environment.
- Knowledge of trading, rebalancing, and investment software (Thomson 1, Vestmark, Morningstar).
- Understanding of portfolio construction, tax implications, and trading best practices.
- Progress toward or interest in APMA, CIMA, CFA, or related designations.

This position could be located in any of our LFP offices or work remote but must have the ability to travel to Bismarck quarterly for training purposes
