Heavy Equipment Operator - Excavator - $25-$30/hr - Metal Scrap Yard

We are looking for a skilled Excavator Operator to move and load scrap metal utilizing a Grapple System. The ideal candidate will have experience operating excavators, backhoes, trackhoes, or other similar equipment safely and efficiently. This role will also involve operating hydraulic shears.

Key Responsibilities

• Safe Operation: Operate excavators utilizing grapple attachments to move scrap metal for processing and shipping.
• Equipment Inspection: Conduct daily pre- and post-operation "walk arounds" to check fluids, grease equipment, and ensure all components are in good working order.
• Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine maintenance (lubrication, cleaning, refilling) and minor repairs; promptly report major mechanical issues to supervisors.
• Utility Coordination: Complete tasks moving and separating scrap while ensuring the safety of team members working on foot in the area.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations, company protocols, and industry standards.
• Communication: Coordinate machine actions with ground crews, spotters, and other operators using hand signals or radio communication.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience: 2 years of proven field experience operating heavy equipment, preferably excavators.
• Machine Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to operate excavators, backhoes, loaders.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to sit for long periods, lift 50 pounds, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, and crouch to access machinery.
• High-dexterity hand-eye-foot coordination required to control complex machinery.
