Your role

The Sales Engineer is a high-impact, customer-facing role that serves as the main link between the Leybold factory and the client. Responsible for driving sales, this role educates key stakeholders on vacuum technology advancements and best practices. Focused primarily on the Scientific market, the Sales Engineer manages and grows business within a defined territory, identifying opportunities with both new and existing customers. The role also coordinates account activities across internal departments to ensure full customer satisfaction.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Sell Leybold products to an assigned account base within a geographic region, focusing on Scientific sectors such as Space Research, High Energy Physics, Fusion, Quantum Computing, Nuclear Medicine, Semiconductor, Solar, Analytical, Coating, and more.
  • Split time between home office and customer site visits to conduct sales meetings, product demos, and troubleshooting at advanced factories and R&D facilities.
  • Establish and execute aggressive sales strategies and goals in alignment with segment and product marketing and the Head of Sales.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities for Leybold products and services.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and resolve complaints by coordinating with internal departments.
  • Provide professional sales support including technical assistance, product selection, quotations, contract terms, and administration.
  • Complete all required reports-monthly, visit, forecasts, expenses-accurately and on time.
  • Use CRM tools for all reporting as directed by sales management.
  • Attend trade shows, seminars, and training to stay informed on industry trends and competitive offerings.
  • Set short-term (12-month) and long-term (3-year) sales goals.
  • Demonstrate key products at customer sites.
  • Maintain company property including vehicle, computer, demo equipment, and consignment stock.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred; relevant experience in technical roles or sales may substitute. Minimum five years working with technical products or services, ideally vacuum equipment.

Skills & Knowledge:
Customer-facing experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts. Skilled in active listening, solution development, and collaboration. Proficient in Microsoft Office; Power BI and SAP are a plus.

Other Requirements:
Self-motivated, curious, and results-driven. Able to work independently from a home office. Familiarity with mechanical, vacuum, or fluid systems is a plus. Valid driver's license required.

Job location

This remote role involves frequent travel-about 50%-including overnight and multi-day domestic and international trips. The employee may be exposed to mechanical parts, outdoor conditions, fumes, and occasional risks like electrical shock, vibration, and loud noise.

Physical requirements include regular sitting, standing, walking, stair climbing, and verbal communication. Occasional tasks include typing, dialing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching. Lifting up to 20 pounds may be required. Frequent computer use and visual acuity-including close, color, distance, depth perception, and focus adjustment-are essential.
