Position Summary:
The Automotive Bookkeeper is responsible for performing a wide range of accounting and clerical duties to support the dealership’s daily business operations. This position ensures accuracy and timeliness in maintaining records, and supporting the dealership’s accounting department with general ledger reconciliation, schedules, and reporting.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and familiar with automotive dealership accounting processes.
Reports To: Office Manager / Controller
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Process daily accounting transactions including deposits, journal entries, and internal transfers.
- Record and balance vehicle deals, wholesale transactions, and dealer trades.
- Post new and used vehicle sales into the accounting system.
- Process vendor invoices and payments; verify proper authorization and coding.
- Communicate with department managers to resolve discrepancies and ensure proper posting of transactions.
- Support management with reports, analysis, and special projects as needed.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, dealership policies, and manufacturer financial requirements.
- Safeguard confidential financial information and maintain a high degree of professionalism.
- Maintain compliance with all state and federal accounting and recordkeeping regulations.
- Reliable attendance is required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years accounting experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and dealership management systems (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
