Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Fire Chief to lead our fire department operations. The Fire Chief will oversee emergency response activities, manage personnel, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and coordinate community safety initiatives. This leadership role requires a strong background in firefighting, emergency medical services, and team management to effectively protect lives and property within the community.
Duties
- Lead and coordinate all firefighting and emergency response operations, ensuring swift and effective action during incidents.
- Oversee the training and certification of fire department personnel
- , first aid, CPR, and basic life support procedures.
- Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and safety protocols in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Manage department resources, including equipment maintenance, inventory control, and vehicle operation such as commercial driving.
- Conduct regular drills and training exercises to maintain high levels of preparedness among staff.
- Engage with the community through safety education programs and public outreach initiatives.
- Supervise administrative functions including budgeting, staffing schedules, and personnel evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards by monitoring vital signs and mechanical systems within the department's facilities.
Requirements
- Proven leadership experience in firefighting or emergency services; prior experience as a Fire Chief or in a senior fire department role is preferred.
- Valid certification as a firefighter with EMT experience; certifications in first aid, CPR, basic life support are required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical systems relevant to fire apparatus and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks required during emergency responses or equipment handling.
- Valid driver's license with commercial driving endorsement preferred.
- Strong communication skills for effective coordination with team members, other agencies, and the community.
