Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Building Official to oversee construction projects and ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations in Lexington, Missouri. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction, quality control, and inspection processes. This role is vital for maintaining the integrity of construction activities, safeguarding public safety, and ensuring project standards are met efficiently and effectively.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough inspections of construction sites to verify adherence to building codes, safety standards, and project specifications.
  • Review construction plans, blueprints, and contracts to ensure compliance with local regulations and standards.
  • Perform quality control and quality inspection assessments throughout various phases of construction projects.
  • Collect and analyze data related to construction activities, materials, and safety protocols for reporting purposes.
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, architects, and project managers to resolve compliance issues promptly.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, violations, and corrective actions taken during construction processes.
  • Enforce building codes by issuing permits, citations, or stop-work orders when necessary.
  • Provide guidance on construction management best practices to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Assist in the development of policies related to construction safety and quality assurance.

Skills

  • Proven experience in construction site supervision or inspection roles.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, site management, and quality control procedures.
  • Excellent analysis skills for evaluating plans, reports, and inspection findings.
  • Knowledge of construction management principles and contract administration.
  • Ability to perform detailed data collection and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with diverse stakeholders including contractors and government officials.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on safety standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Pay: $45, $50,000.00 per year
