SUMMARY:
The Purchasing Coordinator, under the direction of the Purchasing Director, is responsible for procuring equipment, supplies, and services essential to the daily operations of Lexington Clinic and Lexington Clinic Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) at the most competitive prices. The role emphasizes optimizing total cost of ownership through both GPO and local contracts. Key responsibilities include monitoring market trends, maintaining effective vendor relationships, and collaborating with staff and department leaders. The Coordinator also works closely with the Purchasing Director and ASC Administrator to drive product standardization for enhanced efficiency and cost reduction, manages new product requests, and performs financial analysis. This position requires reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and appropriate insurance in accordance with Lexington Clinic safety policies. May require some travel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration or a related field. Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement with a minimum of 3 years’ in an ambulatory surgical center or hospital setting.
SKILLS: Strong analytical abilities, proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel), contract negotiations, drafting/redlining skills, excellent communication, and ability to work well in a diverse team environment in support of organizational objectives. Highly organized, ability to multitask with good time management skills. Ability to adjust workload efforts based on new priorities assigned by management. GPO experience or prior role involving GPO collaboration. Negotiation experience include pricing, value adds, and rebates. Familiarity with value analysis teams and processes.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lift/carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; manual dexterity; mobility; visual acuity.
