Position Summary
Manage the daily activities of the Estimating Department to bid jobs on time and per specifications.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Engineering Degree is preferred. Must have a minimum of eight years’ experience as an Estimator or Engineer in a structural steel fabrication environment. Must be able to read and understand structural drawings. Requires knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Fabtrol. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Physical Demands
Requires some overtime and weekend work. May require overnight travel. Must be able to multi-task and be efficient in time management. Must be able to work in a high stress work environment in order to meet deadlines. Must be able to sit and work on a computer the majority of the work day. - Manage the daily activities of the Estimating Department.
- Reviews all bid packages and assigns them to the estimators.
- Communicates with customers to develop an understanding of project requirements.
- Reviews drawings, specifications and estimates for accuracy.
- Communicate needs and discuss bids from vendors and erectors.
- Provides accurate and timely sales quotations at a profit level consistent with the company’s objectives.
- Answer technical questions regarding estimates.
- Assist Project Management team to understand jobs once they are sold.
- Perform Value Engineering to help reduce the cost of the project.
- The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
