Position Summary
Responsible for high-quality clinical care and service to residents consistent with regulations and established clinical best practices under the oversight of the Registered Nurse. Monitor work and performance of unlicensed staff.

Percent of Time
- Maintain an Environment that Achieves High Quality Care of Residents:
- Order, set up and administer medication as needed per physician orders
- Provide resident treatments, as ordered by Physicians and other health professionals
- Transcribe physician orders and complete related resident documentation
- Participate in on-call rotation with other nursing staff, providing support to resident care staff
- Maintain accurate resident care documentation
- Report changes in resident status to Registered Nurse
- Initiate emergency treatment for residents, as needed, and report status to Registered Nurse
- Assist with the implementation and coordination of clinical services with other health professionals internally and externally
- Follow and maintain infection control procedures
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of resident records and information
- Master and utilize electronic documentation software used within the senior community

- Mentor Resident Support Employees:
- Maintain departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures; report any concerns to management
- Provide leadership and direction through proper communication and assist with training and orienting new resident support employees
- Provide input to Registered Nurse on employee performance
- Monitor work performance of unlicensed staff; report to Registered Nurse
- Assist and support unlicensed staff as needed. Report issues to Registered Nurse

Required Qualifications – Minimum requirements of the position.
- Licensed Practical Nurse with current licensure with the Minnesota State Board of Nursing.
- One or more years of related work experience.
- Demonstrated competencies in health care management.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in nursing, including competency working with the senior population.
- Ability to master and utilize provided electronic documentation software, resident and family support systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in gerontological nursing
Special Considerations
- Must be able to work irregular hours, occasional weekends and evenings.
