BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, maintain and improve school site grounds. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Maintains and improves school site grounds. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. Perform general grounds maintenance work including keeping sufficient bark and removal of weeds on playgrounds; mows lawns, operate blowers, weed eaters and edgers; trim bushes and trees; fertilize and re-seed lawns; maintain irrigation system; repair fences as necessary 2. Monitors grounds and facility safety conditions and reports concerns to Superintendent/Principal 3. Performs preventative maintenance, including but not limited to cleaning, oiling, inspecting and adjusting grounds equipment 4. Operates hand and power tools necessary to perform duties 5. Identify and report exterior building and grounds maintenance needs 6. Perform work in accordance with safe work practices and procedures and County Office policies; assure compliance with applicable standards; arm and disarm alarms; raise and lower flags; secure facilities including locking and unlocking doors and gates 7. Perform emergency clean up services resulting from breakage, vandalism 8. Stock and maintain grounds supplies 9. Hazardous materials knowledge, implement and training to appropriate campus personnel 10. Coordinate with Superintendent and Business Manager the procurement of materials, equipment, services and supplies 11. Other duties as assigned
