Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum for orchestra classes, aligning with state and national standards.
- Teach students how to play orchestral instruments, including but not limited to strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion.
- Conduct rehearsals and prepare students for performances, competitions, and community events.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement and growth.
- Collaborate with other music educators and staff to create interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Organize and lead extracurricular activities, such as orchestral ensembles, masterclasses, and workshops.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and respect for diverse musical backgrounds.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and upcoming events.
- Stay current with trends in music education and incorporate innovative teaching methods and technology into the curriculum.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and musical knowledge.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field
- Valid teaching certification in Music Education.
- Proven experience teaching orchestra or instrumental music
- Proficiency in playing multiple orchestral instruments.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students of varying skill levels.
- Knowledge of music theory, history, and pedagogy.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Experience with technology in music education is a plus.
