Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Millwright/Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing sawmill and production equipment to ensure smooth and efficient operations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical maintenance experience, welding skills, and a commitment to safety.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and sawmill machinery.
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Fabricate and weld components for equipment and structural repairs.
- Ensure proper operation of industrial equipment, including sawmill machinery, boilers, and kilns.
- Use hand tools, hoists, jacks, squares, rulers, micrometers, plumb bobs, and power tools to assemble, install, align, and adjust machines.
- Maintain an organized shop and adhere to OSHA safety standards.
- Conduct tests to ensure machines meet specifications; modify and fine-tune as needed.
- Disassemble machines and gather parts for repairs or modifications based on blueprints.
- Troubleshoot unexpected issues and repair older machines.
- Provide recommendations to management regarding new machinery.
- Plan and facilitate installation of new or refurbished machinery, including building platforms and foundations.
- Conduct safety inspections of facilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Thorough understanding of a variety of industrial equipment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of safety practices, guidelines, and regulations.
- Basic understanding of welding, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam boiler systems.
- Valid PA Driver's License required.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required, vocational school or Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience required; 4 years of successful apprenticeship training preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Visual acuity for inspecting and modifying machinery.
- Manual dexterity for assembling, disassembling, and adjusting machines.
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time: 40 hours per week minimum 5 hours overtime weekly.
- Shifts 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM Monday through Friday
- Hourly rate $18.00, dependent on experience.
