Position Overview
We are seeking a hardworking Lumber Sorter/Stacker to join our team. This role is responsible for sorting, stacking, and organizing lumber according to grade, size, and species to ensure efficient production flow and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Sort lumber by grade, species, and dimensions according to company standards.
- Stack lumber neatly and securely to maintain quality and safety.
- Monitor lumber flow and help optimize production efficiency.
- Communicate with grading staff and production team to maintain consistency.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Operate forklifts or other material-handling equipment as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Ability to identify lumber species and grades (training provided).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions.
- Knowledge of safety practices and regulations.
- Forklift certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid PA Driver's License required.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience in lumber handling or sawmill operations preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and lifting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Manual dexterity for handling and stacking lumber.
- Visual acuity for identifying lumber characteristics.
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time: 40 hours per week minimum 5 hours overtime weekly.
- Shifts 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday
- $15.00 per hour
