The Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining customer vehicles to ensure safety, reliability, and optimal performance. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to perform routine maintenance as well as complex mechanical and electrical repairs in accordance with manufacturer and dealership standards. The Service Technician works collaboratively with service advisors and the parts department, maintains accurate repair documentation, and delivers high-quality workmanship while adhering to all safety and warranty guidelines.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience as an automotive service technician or mechanic preferred, but not required.
Formal automotive training or certification from an accredited automotive program preferred.
Certifications & Licenses
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications highly preferred.
Manufacturer-specific certifications (Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram) preferred.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of automotive systems, including engine, transmission, electrical, suspension, braking, and exhaust systems.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment, including OBD-II scanners and advanced diagnostic technology.
Ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues accurately and efficiently.
Understanding of dealership and manufacturer warranty policies and repair procedures.
Communication & Work Skills
Ability to communicate effectively with service advisors, customers, and team members.
Ability to explain technical information clearly to non-technical customers.
