Position Summary
The Digital Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining digital printing equipment to produce high-quality printed materials according to customer specifications. This role requires technical knowledge of digital presses, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate digital presses (e.g., HP Indigo, Xerox, Konica Minolta, Ricoh, Canon, etc.) for a variety of print jobs.
Review job tickets and verify specifications including paper type, size, color, resolution, and finishing requirements.
Monitor print quality throughout production, making adjustments to color, registration, and alignment as needed.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on digital presses to ensure maximum uptime and quality output.
Troubleshoot press issues and escalate technical problems when necessary.
Accurately record production data including job counts, materials used, and downtime.
Ensure printed products meet established quality standards before releasing to finishing/bindery.
Collaborate with prepress, finishing, and customer service teams to ensure jobs are completed accurately and on time.
Follow all company safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Qualifications
Previous experience operating digital presses in a commercial printing environment preferred.
Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with the ability to quickly learn press software and controls.
Knowledge of digital file formats (PDF, PostScript, etc.) and color management concepts.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to print quality.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience with variable data printing (VDP) and workflow software.
Familiarity with RIP software and digital front ends.
Knowledge of color calibration and ICC profiling.
