LC State invites applications for the position of Retention Specialist

Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $47,325 - $49,000

Degree Required: Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, or related field from a regionally accredited college or university

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of experience developing and implementing retention strategies, knowledge and experience with academic advising/career counseling, and teaching or tutoring basic study skills.
  • Experience with office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with first-generation college students or other at-risk students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Bilingual: Spanish & English
  • Experience working with migrant or seasonal farm workers and collaborating with migrant seasonal farm work (MSFW) service organizations and campus departments for student referrals

Responsibilities:

  1. Support CAMP students in completing FASFA.
  2. Provide academic and study skills.
  3. Provide access to STEM courses, careers, workshops, internships, and other learning-based experiences.
  4. Provide personal and academic counseling.
  5. Provide academic skill-building and tutoring.
  6. Provide student engagement activities.
  7. Provide career counseling.
  8. Provide opportunities for parent engagement.
  9. Collaborate in monthly, semester, and annual evaluations related to the CAMP grant.
  10. Support students' persistence and completion of 1ˢᵗ year and 2ⁿᵈ year continuation.
  11. Monitor students' progress toward degree completion and implement interventions to support retention.
  12. Utilize Student Access to record students' engagement and progress toward degree completion
  13. Create student electronic files with all retention efforts and store data in TEAMS and CAMP drives under respective cohorts.
  14. Additional duties include direct and indirect activities to support recruitment and retention of students.
