Automotive Service Technician, Lewis Chevrolet of Hays — Hays, KS 67601
Job Type: Full-time Pay: Negotiable — straight time, flag rate, bonus bumps, and hybrid pay plans are available. Our Service Director will work with you to determine the best pay structure for your experience and goals.
About Us: Lewis Chevrolet of Hays is a growing family owned, full-service dealership serving Hays and the surrounding community. Our service department is expanding to meet increasing demand and we are looking for an experienced technician to join our team.
Position Summary: We are hiring a full-time Automotive Service Technician to perform diagnostic and repair work on customer vehicles in accordance with dealership and manufacturer standards. This is an experienced-level position requiring a minimum of five years of technician experience.
Essential Duties
- Perform vehicle diagnosis and repair in accordance with dealership and factory standards
- Complete work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy
- Diagnose the cause of malfunctions and perform repairs as authorized by the service manager
- Clearly document all work performed and parts used on repair orders
- Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts
- Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins and participate in training programs
- Provide superior customer service and maintain a professional demeanor
- Ensure customer vehicles are kept clean throughout the service process
- Maintain shop area in a neat, clean, and safe condition
- Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations including hazardous waste disposal
- Operate all tools and equipment safely and report any safety issues immediately to management
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum five years of technician experience required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Automotive secondary school education is a plus
- ASE or equivalent brand certifications strongly preferred
- Must have personal tools necessary to perform automotive repairs and diagnosis
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required
- Strong communication and customer service skills
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods per shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Work environment includes exposure to noise, vehicle fluids, fumes, and cleaning solutions
