What are the responsibilities and job description for the Audit Senior / Audit Supervisor position at Levelociti?
You will lead audits that give privately held businesses, nonprofits, and their advisors confidence in the numbers—and a clear path to act. This role protects trust, strengthens client relationships, and develops the next generation of auditors. Success looks like on-time opinions, well-supported conclusions, and teams that improve with every engagement.
Performance Objectives
- Plan and deliver a portfolio of financial statement audits and related attestation engagements on schedule, within budget, and to professional standards.
- Direct fieldwork so significant risks are identified early, evidence is sufficient, and review notes are cleared before they become client issues.
- Coach staff through technical judgments, documentation, and client communication so quality rises without unnecessary hours.
- Own the client conversation—from planning through findings—so management receives timely, actionable results.
- Keep every engagement aligned with firm methodology, independence requirements, and current auditing and accounting standards.
- Reduce rework and improve realization by fixing recurring process gaps across your book of work.
- Identify advisory needs during audits and contribute to proposals that expand trusted client relationships.
Environment & Resources
You will report to an audit manager or partner in a mid-size accounting and advisory practice serving middle-market companies, nonprofits, private schools, high-net-worth individuals, and the legal community across New Jersey, New York, and neighboring states. You will supervise associates and seniors, with ready access to tax, valuation, forensic, and restructuring specialists when an audit uncovers a broader need. Engagement software, a defined audit methodology, and technical consultation through a global network of independent firms are in place so you can focus on judgment, not reinventing process.
Essential Qualifications
- CPA (active or near completion is preferred) with at least five years in public accounting audit, including direct supervision of staff.
- Proven ability to plan engagements, review workpapers, and conclude on significant audit areas.
- Experience with privately held companies and/or nonprofit financial reporting.
- Clear written and verbal communication with clients, partners, and junior staff.
- Working command of U.S. GAAS and GAAP, plus relevant nonprofit or industry guidance where the engagement requires it.
- Comfort using engagement management and electronic workpaper tools.
Role Selling Points
- A varied client base—not a single-industry production line—so your technical range keeps growing.
- Direct partner access and specialized practices you can bring in when the audit is only the start of the client’s need.
- A culture built on being prepared, trusted, and forward-thinking, with room to shape how engagements are run.
- Cross-border questions supported through a global association of independent firms, without losing a local client focus.
