Duties
- Provide compassionate peer support to individuals experiencing mental health or addiction challenges through one-on-one interactions and group settings.
- Conduct outreach activities across community settings to raise awareness about available behavioral health resources and reduce stigma.
- Assist clients in developing personalized recovery plans, utilizing motivational interviewing techniques to empower decision-making.
- Respond effectively to crisis situations by applying crisis intervention and crisis management skills, ensuring safety and stabilization.
- Document client interactions, service plans, and progress notes accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers, counselors, and healthcare providers, to coordinate care and support client goals.
- Engage in ongoing training on behavioral health topics, addiction counseling strategies, and social work best practices to enhance service quality.
Qualifications
- Lived experience with mental health recovery or substance use recovery is highly valued and preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of behavioral health principles, crisis management, and crisis intervention techniques.
- Experience in mental health counseling, addiction counseling, mentoring or social work is desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and build rapport with diverse populations.
- Familiarity with motivational interviewing methods and EHR systems for documentation purposes.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism, empathy, and clarity under pressure.
- Certification or training in crisis intervention or behavioral health support is a plus but not mandatory.
