Marketing Manager

Marketing Manager – Hybrid, Northern Colorado

I’m Scott Zurn, P.E., founder and CEO of Level Engineering & Architecture. Great marketing is a big reason Level has grown into a national firm with 25,000 clients and thousands of five-star reviews. Now I'm looking for the next great marketing mind to keep that going and take it further.

Level Engineering & Architecture is a national network of independent engineers and architects serving homeowners, contractors, building owners and local governments across civil, structural and forensic engineering and architecture. We're big enough to have real stories to tell and small enough that your work shows up in the numbers.

You'll optimize what's already working, bring fresh ideas to the table, and be the executor who turns them into systems that scale. You'll work directly with me, keep a lot of projects moving at once, and be measured on results, not activity. If you're ready to work hard and grow fast, keep reading.

The title only tells you part of the story, so here's what the job actually is.

What this job actually is

The role has four buckets. You'll have work moving in all four at once, every week.

  1. Lead generation. You own how clients find us across a multi-location business. That means our Google Business Profiles, our website, the SEO agency we work with, third-party lead platforms, and paid campaigns. You watch the numbers, decide what's working, and move effort and money toward it.
  2. Content and brand storytelling. Our best marketing is already happening on job sites. Engineers solve real problems for homeowners, builders and developers every day. Your job is to pull those stories out of them (and out of me) and turn them into blog posts, portfolio projects, and social content to bring our brand to life online.
  3. Sales enablement. You build and maintain the funnels, follow-up sequences, explainer videos and process documents that help a lead become a client. You work with our admin and business development team so what marketing promises matches what clients experience.
  4. Running the marketing machine. You manage our SEO agency, content freelancers and other contractors, and you can hire or replace them. You own the editorial calendar, the content library, the SOPs and the reporting. When you're done building it, anyone on the team should be able to find any asset for any location in under a minute.

How we'll work together

You report to me, and we'll talk often. I'm a big part of the content: you'll interview me, pull ideas out of my head, draft in my voice, and bring it back for my approval before it goes live.

This is a hybrid role. Our HQ is in Northern Colorado (Fort Collins / Loveland), and I'd like you in the office with the team 2–3 days a week.

Outside of that approval, the calls are yours. You can change the content plan when something isn't working. You choose the tools. I also expect you to push back. If I'm asking for something that won't move the numbers, tell me.

What this role is not

  • Not a social media posting job. Posting is maybe 5% of it.
  • Not a coordinator role where someone hands you a task list each morning.
  • Not an agency job juggling outside clients. You're building one brand.
  • You don't need to be an engineer. You need to be curious enough to understand what our engineers do and explain it to our clients.

What success looks like

  • You'll be measured on results, not activity. The numbers we track:
  • Leads per month
  • Google Business Profile performance (calls, website clicks, direction requests)
  • Organic website traffic
  • Review volume and rating
  • Third-party lead platform performance (cost per lead and lead quality)
  • Systems built and running successfully
  • Systems optimization

You're a great fit if

  • You can run ten projects at once and nothing falls through the cracks, because you have a system for it.
  • You care more about the number moving than about how busy you look.
  • You like working directly with a founder, including the fast pivots and strong opinions.
  • You build things once so they run without you: templates, SOPs, automations.
  • You write well. Really well. A LinkedIn hook, a blog post and a client email each sound right.
  • You already use AI in your daily work, and you can show me what you've built or sped up with it.
  • You see a gap and fill it without being asked.

You'll need

  • 3 years in marketing, with at least 2 owning results (not just executing tasks)
  • Experience managing agencies, freelancers or contractors
  • Local or multi-location marketing experience: Google Business Profiles, local SEO, reviews
  • Comfort with WordPress, Canva and GoHighLevel (or a similar CRM)
  • Experience reporting on marketing performance and making decisions from the data
  • A portfolio of work you drove from idea to result
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Nice to have: Home services, construction or AEC experience.

What you get

  • $65,000-80,000 salary (based on experience)
  • Annual performance bonus tied to lead growth targets
  • Hybrid: in the office with the team in Northern Colorado 2–3 days a week, remote the rest
  • Health insurance stipend
  • PTO and company holidays
  • Real ownership and autonomy (you'll learn and grow quickly)
  • A small, agile team doing something different in the industry

Why Level

I'm Scott Zurn, PE, a civil engineer turned founder. Before Level, I spent decades in the trenches of public and private infrastructure. I managed hundreds of millions of dollars in federal grants and NEPA-funded projects, earned recognition like ENR's Best Project Award and ITE's Transportation Professional of the Year, and became licensed in 14 states.

Along the way, I watched talented engineers and architects get trapped in a broken system: rigid hierarchies, capped pay and little autonomy. Mentorship disappeared as experienced professionals retired.

Young designers left before they could hit their stride, and AI and offshoring started to erode the local expertise our communities depend on. So in 2015, I started Level to build something better.

Today, Level is a national network of independent engineers and architects across civil, structural and forensic engineering and architecture. Our professionals own their careers, with real mentorship and a back office that handles the tedious parts of running a business. We've served 25,000 clients, from homeowners to local governments, and earned thousands of five-star reviews.

Independent design professionals, with the right support, will reshape the industry. We're a decade into proving it works.
