Assistant or Associate Professor of Sport Studies (09-11-2026)

Position Description

LeTourneau University, a vibrant and growing interdenominational, evangelical Christian university, known for high-quality STEM programs that attract students of outstanding academic ability, invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Sport Studies, Department of Human Performance & Sport Studies. This is a tenure-track position with rank negotiable based on experience. This faculty member will teach a range of kinesiology & sport studies courses with an emphasis on sport studies at undergraduate level. This position is designed for a dynamic faculty member who is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and preparing students for careers in sport-related fields through experiential learning, industry engagement, and faith integration.

The ideal candidate should have excellent team-building skills and the interest and experience to provide growth to the Department of Human Performance & Sport Studies. Research and teaching experience are highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in sport-related areas such as sport management, sport communication, sport marketing, sport sociology, sport ethics, and various other sport studies topics
• Contribute to the development and growth of the Human Performance & Sport Studies program
• Advise and mentor students in academic, professional, and spiritual development
• Intentionally integrate faith in the classroom and in one-on-one discipleship in a meaningful way
• Engage in experiential learning initiatives (e.g., internships, industry partnerships, event-based learning such as Final Four or Super Bowl opportunities)
• Maintain an active agenda of scholarship or professional engagement appropriate to the discipline
• Participate in departmental, university, and professional service
  
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Earned doctorate in Sport Management, Sport Studies, Kinesiology, or a related field required
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching
• Ability to teach across multiple sport-related disciplines depending on program needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional or applied experience in the sport industry preferred
