Medical Office Administrative Assistant
Oak Ridge, TN | Full-Time
If you're the person who can answer a ringing phone, greet a patient, find the document everyone else swears has disappeared, and somehow keep the office moving at the same time—we should probably talk.
We're looking for a dependable, organized, and compassionate Medical Office Administrative Assistant to help keep a busy behavioral health practice running smoothly.
You'll be one of the first people patients interact with, so we're looking for someone who's friendly and patient—but also organized enough to keep up when the phone is ringing, appointments are changing, paperwork is piling up, and everybody needs something at once.
What You'll Be Doing
- Greeting patients and visitors
- Answering and directing phone calls
- Scheduling and confirming appointments
- Verifying insurance eligibility and benefits
- Assisting with patient intake and registration
- Scanning and converting paper charts into electronic records
- Uploading, sending, receiving, and organizing medical documents
- Maintaining electronic and paper filing systems
- Communicating with patients, providers, pharmacies, and insurance companies

- Keeping the front office organized, professional, and welcoming
- Handling the everyday administrative tasks that keep a medical office running
What We're Looking For
- Medical office or administrative experience preferred
- Strong computer and data-entry skills
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Professional phone and customer-service skills
- Ability to multitask without letting things fall through the cracks
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems is a plus
- Microsoft Office experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Athenahealth experience? Even better. We'd love to talk to you.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone dependable, compassionate, professional, and comfortable working with patients who may be having a difficult day.
You don't have to know everything on day one. But you do need to be willing to learn, take initiative, stay organized, and be someone the rest of the office can count on.
