Caregiver – Job Description

Overview

Caregivers provide essential in‑home support that helps clients remain safe, comfortable, and independent. This role is ideal for compassionate, reliable individuals who enjoy helping others and making a meaningful difference every day.

Key Responsibilities

Personal Care & Daily Living Support

• Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting

• Support safe mobility, transfers, and fall‑prevention practices

• Help with meal preparation, feeding, and hydration

• Provide medication reminders (non‑clinical)

Home Support

• Perform light housekeeping such as laundry, dishes, and tidying

• Assist with errands, shopping, and transportation as required

• Maintain a clean, safe environment for the client

Companionship & Emotional Support

• Engage clients in conversation, activities, and social interaction

• Offer reassurance, patience, and a positive presence

• Observe and report changes in client condition

Documentation & Communication

• Record visit notes accurately and on time in the agency system

• Communicate promptly with office staff about concerns or schedule changes

• Follow care plans and agency policies

Qualifications

• Experience in caregiving, home care, or related fields preferred (but not required for entry‑level roles)

• Ability to lift, transfer, and assist clients safely

• Strong communication and reliability

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if required by your agency)

• Ability to pass background checks and required screenings
