What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Process Engineer position at LER TechForce?
Senior Process Engineer – Seats Production
Are you an engineer who sees inefficiency as an opportunity? Do you enjoy transforming manufacturing operations through data, innovation, and continuous improvement? We're looking for a Senior Process Engineer to play a critical role in optimizing our Seats Production operations and driving world-class manufacturing performance.
In this role, you'll be at the center of process design, operational excellence, and new program launches—working cross-functionally to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance. You'll have the opportunity to influence everything from manufacturing layouts and material flow to capacity planning, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement strategies.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Drive Manufacturing Excellence
- Analyze, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve throughput, efficiency, and product quality.
- Conduct time studies, work measurement analyses, and line balancing activities to maximize production performance.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions that reduce waste, improve cycle times, and increase overall productivity.
- Champion Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including Kaizen events, 5S, SMED, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
Improve Plant Operations & Material Flow
- Design and optimize manufacturing layouts, workstation configurations, and ergonomic solutions.
- Evaluate and improve material flow strategies to support lean manufacturing objectives.
- Develop and implement Kanban systems and material handling processes that support efficient production operations.
- Ensure optimal utilization of floor space while maintaining safe and efficient workflows.
Lead Capacity Planning & Operational Readiness
- Analyze production capacity and forecast future manufacturing requirements.
- Determine manpower, tooling, equipment, and resource needs to support both existing operations and new program launches.
- Support capital equipment planning and investment decisions through detailed operational and financial analysis.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop scalable manufacturing solutions that support business growth.
Drive Continuous Improvement
- Utilize data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for operational improvements.
- Lead projects focused on increasing OEE, reducing scrap, improving labor utilization, and lowering manufacturing costs.
- Develop sustainable solutions that improve long-term manufacturing performance.
- Track and report key performance indicators to ensure operational goals are achieved.
Support Quality, Safety & New Product Launches
- Ensure manufacturing processes meet quality standards and customer expectations.
- Integrate ergonomic and safety considerations into process design and implementation.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for process-related quality concerns.
- Participate in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/A) reviews to ensure successful product launches.
- Develop and maintain PFMEAs, standard work instructions, process documentation, and launch readiness plans.
- Validate process capability and support production ramp-up activities for new programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5 years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or a similar role within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proven background in time studies, line balancing, capacity planning, process optimization, and workflow analysis.
- Experience supporting new product launches and implementing process improvements from concept through production.
- Knowledge of PFMEA, APQP, PPAP, and manufacturing quality systems.
- Strong analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Leadership teams.
Preferred Experience
- Automotive manufacturing experience, particularly within seating, interiors, assembly, or Tier 1 supplier environments.
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).
- Experience with automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Familiarity with ergonomics, facility layout planning, and material handling systems.
Why This Opportunity?
This isn't a maintenance engineering role or a position focused solely on supporting existing processes. We're looking for someone who enjoys building, improving, and challenging the status quo. You'll have the opportunity to lead meaningful improvements, influence manufacturing strategy, support new product launches, and make a measurable impact on operational performance every day.
If you're passionate about manufacturing excellence, process innovation, and continuous improvement, we'd love to hear from you.
