Durability Test Engineer
Are you looking to work for a company that provides an innovative work environment and where your voice is heard? We are seeking a Durability Test Engineer to support vehicle durability validation and road load simulation activities for a leading automotive customer.
What You Will Be Doing
- Plan, coordinate, and execute durability testing using MTS real-time hydraulically actuated simulators.
- Configure and operate data acquisition systems to collect and analyze vehicle and component performance data.
- Lead test specimen builds, instrumentation activities, installations, repairs, and teardowns.
- Perform simulator tuning and operation using RPC Pro and FlexTest software.
- Process and analyze durability data and communicate results to engineering teams.
- Conduct daily test inspections, reporting, and durability issue investigations.
- Support proving ground data acquisition activities and correlate road load data to laboratory testing.
- Coordinate with mechanics, supervisors, maintenance teams, and engineering groups to ensure successful test execution.
- Participate in issue review meetings and provide technical recommendations.
What You'll Need to Be Successful
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Aeronautical Engineering.
- Experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation including accelerometers, load cells, and strain gauges.
- Understanding of fatigue, durability, damage severity analysis, and stress-life/load-life concepts.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with test equipment and servo-hydraulic systems.
- Excellent communication, organization, and project leadership skills.
- Ability to work occasional off-shifts and weekends.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to travel up to 20%.
Preferred
- 2-5 years of automotive durability testing experience.
- MTS RPC Pro and FlexTest experience.
- Experience with servo-hydraulic durability simulators.
- nCode and Somat eDAQ experience.
- CAN bus tools such as CANalyzer.
- Strain gauge application and instrumentation experience.
- Experience working in a unionized environment.
- Master's degree in Engineering.
Pay: $82,863.83 - $99,793.00 per year
