Hardware Engineer, Harness
LER TechForce is seeking a skilled hardware engineer to support the creation of wire harnesses for genset applications. This individual would also work with suppliers on tech profiles and review and approve circuitry and fusing designs from suppliers.

JOB LOCATION:

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Work with supplier to finalize design based on tech profile
- Support review and analysis of validation tasks with supplier
- Review and approve circuit/fusing designs from the supplier vs needs
- Own and manage FIRG 7 step for failures and issues identified during testing
- Support any harness design work required for integration
- Create wiring-harnesses using Creo 3-D modeling, Creo Cabling and Creo manufacturing for deliveries to EHI
- Lead wire-harness revision/development, plan deliverables according to schedule, and manage suppliers for EHI assigned harnesses
- Investigates harness and harness hardware problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution, and documents results. (FIRG process)
- Applies and improves hardware development processes and tools.
- Processes include basic problem-solving techniques (5 phase, 7 step, 8D or similar), design for EMC robustness, design for manufacturing, familiarity with Harness development process, requirements analysis.
- Tools include worst case analysis, (user of PTC Creo, 3-D parameter, Creo Cabling, Creo-Schematics) able to work with assemblies, parts, create models, able to create, dimension, and modify drawings withing Creo
- Create DFMEA/PFMEA, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) for assigned harnesses
- Makes decisions in the areas of hardware requirements, design, validation, and test that impact unit cost, functionality, and prototype delivery.
- Ensure robust, reusable, and efficient design
- Provides independent leadership of smaller business impact projects or ownership of complex components, products, systems, or services with greater elements of ambiguity over the senior or lead engineer level and with full accountability to the project team.
- Delivers independent execution of established and emerging work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge.
- Leads the development and improvement of work processes and systems across a functional discipline area within a business unit site.
- Provides support and guidance to influence technical direction within a project team and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.
- Operates as a recognized specialist in a discipline or product area within the immediate team.
- Design and Application of Mechatronics Systems - Specifies electronic hardware and interconnections that measure and control systems; applies electronic hardware and interconnections in products.
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering)
- Wire harness design experience in the engine and/or heavy-duty equipment industry or Automotive design experience also acceptable.
- Genset system familiarization highly desired
- Hardware (sensors, ECUs, harnessing, control panel etc.) used in a genset preferred
- Reading schematics and technical documentation is required
- Creo 3-D modeling is required
- Creo Cabling is required
- Creo Manufacturing is required
- Creo Schematics experience is preferred
- Experience with iDFMEA and DVP processes
- PDM Windchill or Integrity data management experience
- Experience with 7 Step problem-solving processes is required
- Experience with troubleshooting engine or vehicle electrical systems
- Good communicator - written and verbal
