Under the direction of the Employee Development and SHIELD Manager, this position serves as a specialized support in the area of employee development and wellness. Assisting with the development and implementation of employee development projects specific to career development and facilitating agency training. This position is also responsible for monitoring all aspects of the agency evaluation system (NeoGov), this includes evaluation completion, probationary monitoring, and assisting agency leaders in the development plan process. Additionally, this position will ensure that all agency job descriptions are maintained appropriately, as agency policy dictates.  Other expected tasks may include, but are not limited to, maintenance of the agency organizational chart (as directed by policy), coordinating employee recognition programs, working with the agency recruiter on non-sworn recruitment efforts, employee development and SHIELD program administrative support. This position will also assist the SHIELD Coordinator with resource maintenance and the development and delivery of SHIELD initiatives.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a background and strong interest in employee development and wellness. This candidate must be highly motivated and demonstrate competence in training facilitation and resource development. First responder experience or interest in working directly with the first responder community will both be considered. Candidates must possess strong organizational skills, be able to work independently, as well as demonstrate ability to collaborate with internal and external partners, to advance employee development and wellness program projects and initiatives.
  • Assists with the development and presentation of employee development and SHIELD-related programming and information.
  • Coordinate training, meetings, events or facilitates training on topics related to employee development and SHIELD.
  • Assists the Employee Development and SHIELD Manager with implementation and delivery of agency leadership and skill development training.
  • Works with the Employee Development and Wellness Manger reference all NeoGov Development Plan issues.
  • Assists the SHIELD Coordinator with resource development and maintenance.
  • Assists in the preparation of SHIELD/wellness articles, announcements, bulletins, and promotional materials through appropriate media. May be required to conduct research and develop reports and publications for distribution. 
  • Gathers statistical information and prepares statistics in support of agency wellness activities. 
  • Assists with large initiatives and events, to include but not limited to, regional training opportunities, the Annual Benefits and Wellness Fair, Employee Appreciation, Family events and Bring your Child to Work Day each year.  
  • Maintains the official agency organizational chart.
  • Serves as the agency NeoGov coordinator, assisting with the maintenance of performance evaluations and job descriptions (as required by policy).
  • Provides assistance to the agency recruiter in reference to all non-sworn recruitment efforts.
  • Working in conjunction with the Employee Development and SHIELD Manager, this position maintains the agencies career mapping tools and resources, as directed in agency policy.
  • Initiates, processes, prepares, records, and reviews routine, complex, and specialized paperwork, forms, reports, and confidential information related to employee development and SHIELD, ensuring completeness and accuracy of information; maintains all related records.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Division of Member Relations members and other agency units as required. 
  • Responds to telephone, text, e-mail, written, and in-person inquiries from members within the Agency, and/or other interested parties; provides answers and information requiring knowledge of departmental policies and procedures and specialized knowledge.
  • Maintains a variety of records, files, and information for department, ensuring compliance with applicable rules and guidelines, and audits files for completeness and accuracy.
  • Organizes, monitors and maintains inventory, supplies, equipment, and other related items; initiates service and/or repairs of applicable items.
  • Serves as a liaison with external organizations; represents the department at a variety of meetings, public events, training sessions, committees, and/or other related events.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
  • Meet and maintain requirements of licensures and certifications as well as agency-required in-service training.
  • Adhere to the standards and principles of the agency's core values and professionally represent the agency.
  • Report to work timely, consistently and as scheduled.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S) AND one (1) year of related experience in areas such as employee development or wellness. 
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

  • Assembling and organizing data and information;
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Other Necessary Requirements
  • Must be able to lift, push, carry or pull a minimum of 25 pounds independently. 
  • Work is primarily performed in a secure office environment.
