About Leon Capital Group

Leon Capital Group (LCG) is a Dallas-based, founder-led private investment firm with over $10 billion in assets under management across real estate, financial services, healthcare, and technology. Founded in 2006 by Fernando De Leon, LCG is not a private equity fund. The firm conceives, builds, owns, and operates companies with a long-term ownership mindset, investing its own capital with the discipline of an institution and the conviction of a founder.

LCG manages eight investment vehicles spanning real estate, private equity, and credit. The firm's capital formation function is focused on sourcing and cultivating institutional relationships that align with LCG's long-term investment philosophy and expanding platform.

Position Overview

Leon Capital Group is seeking a Managing Director, Institutional Capital Formation to lead and expand LCG's institutional investor relationships across university endowments, foundations, and state pension systems, complementing the firm's existing capital formation team.

This is a senior origination and relationship management role. The Managing Director will own the development of new institutional LP relationships, maintain and grow existing partnerships, and serve as LCG's primary voice with institutional capital allocators. The right candidate brings a deep, established network within the institutional LP community, a track record of capital-raising success at scale, and the credibility to represent LCG's platform directly to sophisticated institutional decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities:

Institutional Capital Origination:

  • Develop and maintain new institutional LP relationships with a targeted focus on university endowments, private and public foundations, and state and municipal pension systems.
  • Build and manage a disciplined pipeline of institutional capital prospects, maintaining an active understanding of which allocators are deploying capital, into which strategies, and at what scale.
  • Lead direct engagement with institutional investment committees, CIOs, and portfolio managers to present LCG's investment platform and vehicle offerings.
  • Source new capital commitments across LCG's eight investment vehicles spanning real estate, private equity, and credit.

Investor Relations and Platform Representation:

  • Serve as a senior external representative of LCG's investment platform at institutional conferences, industry forums, networking events, and LP-facing engagements.
  • Keep internal investment and leadership teams apprised of institutional capital market trends, allocator sentiment, and LP appetite across relevant asset classes and geographies.
  • Provide strategic input on product and fund vehicle structuring to align LCG's offerings with institutional investor demand and market trends.
  • Partner with Cory's existing capital formation team to ensure coordinated and consistent outreach across LP channels.

Fund Closing and Investor Onboarding:

  • Lead and support the closing process for fund vehicles, coordinating efficient investor onboarding and fund administration across new and existing LP relationships.
  • Ensure all team members adhere to applicable CRM processes, pipeline management standards, and regulatory requirements throughout the capital-raising lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate and current investor pipeline and relationship data across LCG's CRM platform.

Brand and Market Positioning:

  • Increase LCG's recognition and credibility within the institutional LP community by participating in relevant conferences, symposiums, and panels.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of external marketing strategies targeting institutional investors, including fund performance communications, investor updates, and thought leadership materials.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 10 years of experience in institutional capital formation, investor relations, or institutional sales at a real estate, private equity, or alternative asset management platform; equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated track record of capital-raising success with institutional LPs, including university endowments, foundations, and state or municipal pension systems.
  • Deep, established network of relationships with institutional capital allocators across target LP channels.
  • Proven ability to lead fund closings and efficiently onboard institutional investors in coordination with fund administration and legal teams.
  • Strong knowledge of the institutional asset management business at both the asset and entity level, including an understanding of LP underwriting criteria, portfolio construction, and investment committee processes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to represent LCG's platform credibly and compellingly to sophisticated institutional audiences.
  • Self-directed, organized, and capable of managing a high-volume relationship pipeline independently.
  • Bachelor's degree required; CFA, CAIA, or comparable professional designation preferred.

Preferred:

  • Active involvement in institutional real estate and alternative investment industry associations, including PREA, NCREIF, INREV, or comparable organizations.
  • Experience in real asset investments or private real estate with direct familiarity with multifamily, industrial, healthcare, or credit strategies.
  • Prior experience at a diversified alternative asset manager with multiple concurrent fund vehicles.

What We Are Looking For

LCG is looking for a senior institutional capital professional with a proven track record of raising capital from endowments, foundations, and pension systems, and the presence and credibility to represent a $10 billion-plus platform to sophisticated institutional investors. The right candidate is commercially oriented, deeply networked, and energized by the opportunity to expand LCG's institutional footprint alongside a high-performing internal team.

This role offers direct access to LCG's senior investment leadership, a broad mandate across eight investment vehicles, and the platform of a well-capitalized, founder-led firm with a nearly 20-year track record of performance across market cycles.

Why Leon Capital Group

Permanent Capital. LCG invests from its own balance sheet with no fund-cycle pressure and no forced exits. Full alignment with the long-term success of every LP relationship.

Broad Platform. Eight investment vehicles across real estate, private equity, and credit provide a compelling and diversified story for institutional capital allocators.

Direct Access. A direct working relationship with LCG's senior investment and leadership team, not a layer removed from the decision-makers who matter.

Proven Track Record. Nearly 20 years of investment discipline across real estate, healthcare, financial services, and technology with a consistent performance history across market cycles.
