SCHOOL ADJUSTMENT COUNSELOR
Leominster High School is seeking a School Adjustment Counselor for a long-term substitute position starting in April, 2026.
Leominster High School serves over 1800 students in a growing and diverse community that includes a comprehensive and vocational school.
Job Responsibilities

Meet regularly with students to provide individual and/or group counseling to students, as needed, relative to social and emotional issues that impact engagement and achievement

Work closely with the Student Support Team to plan and implement interventions for students.

Use multiple sources of data to identify needs, monitor progress, and adjust counseling interventions to improve student outcomes

Provide direct service for individuals identified through Individual Education Plans (IEP) and 504 Accommodation Plans

Engage with families and outside agencies as partners around successes, challenges, and problem-solving on behalf of our students.

Provide intervention with students on conflict mediation, de-escalation, and peer mediation

Consult, assist, and implement behavior assessments for identified students

Maintain appropriate documentation, including progress reports for students on IEPs

Collaborate with faculty and staff on students' needs and progress

Attend 504 meetings and IEP meetings as needed

Perform other duties specifically articulated within the collective bargaining agreement as assigned by building principal and/or District administration
Position Qualifications

Masters degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling

Massachusetts School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor Certification preferred.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, to include the ability to work with families and outside agencies.

Strong planning and collaboration skills.

Skills in de-escalation strategies, conflict resolution, and behavior management

Experience with diverse student populations preferred.

Bilingual in English and Spanish or Portuguese preferred
