We are seeking a Full-Time Gelatier to operate and care for our scoop shop. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys engaging with local families, children, and visitors while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, organization, and hospitality. You will be a trusted, front-facing representative of the Leo Leo Gelato brand.
You will open the shop and prepare it for service, setting the tone for the day.
- Open the scoop shop and prepare the space for service
- Thoroughly clean the gelato case, liners, countertops, glass, and stainless-steel surfaces
- Verify the cash drawer and ensure correct cash levels
- Check inventory of gelato flavors and supplies and communicate needs to ownership
- Serve gelato and pastries with warmth, efficiency, and product knowledge
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace throughout the day (sweeping, mopping, wiping surfaces)
- Complete all closing duties to leave the shop clean, stocked, and ready for the next day
When service slows, side duties are expected to be completed. Once responsibilities are fulfilled, the role allows for quiet downtime, including homework or personal study.
Roles and Responsibilities
Operations
- Maintain cleanliness of the entire scoop shop before, during, and after service
- Ensure proper sanitation and presentation of the dipping cabinet
- Restock jars, supplies, and display items as needed
- Pick up gelato and supplies from the dairy and approved vendors to keep the shop fully stocked
- Monitor inventory levels and place supply orders as needed, coordinating with ownership
- Assist ownership with inventory tracking and ordering
- Learn and confidently describe all gelato flavors and ingredients
- Understand Leo Leo Gelato’s story, sourcing, and production to share with customers
- Represent Leo Leo Gelato professionally during health inspections and routine checks
Experiences
- Retail or food service experience preferred but not required
- Food Handler’s Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
- Familiarity with POS systems is a plus, but not required
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
