Are you a results-driven professional with a strong background in auto finance collections and a passion for loss mitigation? We’re seeking an Asset Recovery Specialist to join our dynamic Loan Servicing team in a hybrid role based in Foothill Ranch, CA.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing accounts approved for repossession, negotiating resolutions to prevent asset loss, and collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to recover collateral efficiently and compliantly. You’ll play a key role in minimizing losses while maintaining a high standard of customer service and regulatory adherence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of accounts assigned for repossession (voluntary, involuntary, abandoned, and impounded vehicles)
- Perform advanced skip tracing and loss prevention negotiations to resolve delinquency and avoid repossession
- Assign and monitor repossession orders, communicate with vendors, and ensure timely vehicle recovery
- Document all actions accurately in internal systems and notify relevant departments upon asset recovery
- Collaborate with backend collections and recommend strategies to mitigate losses
- Monitor repossessed accounts for condition reports and update workflows accordingly
- Assist with insurance-related tasks for accounts with open repo assignments
- Handle escalated collections calls and support special handling cases
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws including SCRA, FDCPA, and bankruptcy regulations
What We’re Looking For
- 5 years of experience in indirect auto finance collections
- 2 years of experience in vehicle repossessions preferred
- Familiarity with skip trace tools and repossession portals (DRN, RDN, idi Core)
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- High attention to detail and sound judgment across a broad scope of responsibilities
- Understanding of federal and state regulations including CFPB, FCRA, UDAAP, FDCPA, SCRA, and TCPA
- College degree preferred; High school diploma or GED required
