Job Summary
Barrett Paving MWC is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) Intern to support our quality programs on paving and construction projects. As a QA/QC Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in materials testing, process verification, and compliance standards, helping ensure our projects meet strict industry and regulatory requirements.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist with field and laboratory testing of construction materials such as asphalt, aggregates, and concrete
- Help monitor and document daily quality control processes on paving and construction sites
- Support the inspection and verification of installed work against project specifications and standards
- Maintain accurate records of test results, inspections, and quality documentation
- Assist with sample collection and preparation for laboratory analysis
- Observe and learn QA/QC procedures, including material certifications and traceability
- Participate in resolving quality issues and communicating findings to field and management teams
- Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and safety personnel to ensure overall project compliance
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for quality systems and processes
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Materials Science, or a related field
- Interest in construction materials, paving, and quality assurance practices
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work outdoors and on active construction sites
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Previous exposure to laboratory or quality control environments is a plus
