Job Summary
The Manager of Clinical Informatics 1 is the main local resource for EHR and HIT implementation and support. This manager acts as the liaison to Information Systems. The Manager of Clinical Informatics 1 works closely with Baylor Scott & White Health IS to coordinate and lead EHR and HIT operations.
Essential Functions Of The Role
- Knows about the continuum of service lines that help hospital or clinic operations. May serve as the Operational Advocate for a service line. Coordinates scheduling and logistics for User Acceptance Testing.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) on business conclusions with informatics impact, end-to-end workflow, and integrated build. Serves as a coach to analysts, coordinators, and specialists within the department.
- Assembles a team accountable for issue resolution. Helps identify any needed technical resources. Provides help to staff for decision-making and work prioritization. Establishes appropriate routes of escalation. Executes tactics to support strategic initiatives aligned with the overall informatics strategy.
- Partners with Information Services/Project Management to lead key workstreams locally in a project, such as discovery, design sessions, and command center logistics for Health Information Technology projects.
- Examines and presents complex information to key stakeholders, including heads and end users. Leverages broad knowledge of technology functionality and workflows across multiple modules. Utilizes robust skill sets with appropriate research and presentation delivery. Stays open-minded and encourages others to bring new perspectives.
- Sets and redefines priorities and reorganizes staff to boost response capacity. Assumes accountability for work delegated to others. Resolves conflict among team members sensitively and fairly.
- Four or more years of experience in a clinical environment are required. Four or more years of experience in an informatics role are preferred.
- Epic Certification and Informatics Certification (ANCC, HIMSS) required.
- Licensed clinician such as nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist, pharmacy technician, dietitian, respiratory therapist, speech pathologist, etc. preferred.
- Ability to utilize critical thinking to know, document and optimize complex processes with appropriate solutions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships across organizational lines.
- Ability to create steps for work processes, quality standards, and measurable goals for employees and project teams.
- Ability to use broader targets to establish how best to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
- Ability to make or approve effective hiring and termination conclusions.
- Ability to evaluate and recommend changes to policies, and establish procedures that affect the managed organization.
- Basic business knowledge includes annual planning, goal setting, budget adherence, employee compensation, compliance, and risk management.
- Advanced computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Qualifications
- EDUCATION - Bachelor's or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
- EXPERIENCE - 4 Years of Experience
- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
- Epic Certification
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) from HIMSS
- Informatics Nursing Certification from ANCC.
