The Accounting Technician I Junior Division of Enforcement will support a team of accountants assisting with the review and analysis of financial data, documents, and manual or automated accounting systems for the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Division of Enforcement.
Responsibilities
- Organize accounting records such as registers, ledgers, and journals.
- Maintaining and updating financial records in an organized manner.
- Evaluate and reconcile diverse financial operations, inspect, and confirm source documents such as invoices.
- Manage schedules of standard objectives, financial statements, and reports
- Organize all routine registers; manage the budget and carry out analysis on all data.
- Review financial documents such as vouchers, purchase orders, and invoices to ensure that proper cost centers are charged, that expenditures and revenues are recorded in the appropriate classification, and that purchases and other transactions are correct in accordance with the approved budget.
- Other duties as assigned
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a US Department of Education-recognized institution.
- Minimum (2) two years of relevant experience as an Accounting Technician.
- Experience may be considered in lieu of education
- Ability to provide a favorable credit history.
- Possess attention to detail and strong communication skills.
- Possess strong skills in analyzing financial data with Excel.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with accounting software platforms, including but not limited to QuickBooks or SAP Preferred
- Ability to understand and implement complex policies and procedures in a financial environment.
- Experience working with substantial datasets-such as bank statements and accounting records.
- Ability to handle tasks independently.
- Ability to work productively and adhere to deadlines while under supervision.
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee may use repeated motions that include the arms, wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
