Job Description
Position Summary
The Facilities Manager is responsible for leading all facilities activities within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures the plant, utilities, and infrastructure operate safely, reliably, and efficiently to support production goals. The Facilities Manager drives and manages capital projects, ensures regulatory compliance, and partners closely with Operations, EHS, and Engineering to minimize downtime and support continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all plant facilities and infrastructure, including buildings, grounds, utilities, and support systems
- Oversee maintenance of manufacturing-related facility systems such as HVAC, compressed air, boilers, electrical distribution, plumbing, and fire protection systems
- Partner with Operations and Engineering to troubleshoot facility-related issues impacting production
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and local/state regulations, support internal and external audits
- Collaborate with EHS to maintain a safe working environment and drive safety initiatives
- Manage and evaluate contractors, service providers, and vendors; negotiate service agreements and control costs
- Prepare and manage the facilities budget, including forecasting capital expenditures
- Lead capital improvement projects such as plant expansions, equipment installations, layout changes, and infrastructure upgrades
- Maintain building security, emergency response plans, and business continuity preparedness
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, energy efficiency, sustainability, and cost reduction
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5 years of facilities or maintenance management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong working knowledge of industrial building systems and plant utilities
- Proven experience supporting production operations and minimizing downtime
- Experience managing budgets, contractors, and capital projects
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and industrial safety standards
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Proficiency with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, or Continuous Improvement methodologies
- Experience supporting multi-shift or 24/7 manufacturing operations
- Familiarity with energy management and sustainability initiatives
