TheElectronicsEngineering Technicianis responsible formaintainingand upgrading prototypes, products,toolsand assemblies in support of Sigma Design’s electrical engineering activities. Provide technical support in the form of documentation, troubleshooting, and design reviews asrequired.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities
Standard lab/production environment. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn.Occasionallymay berequiredto work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environmentsin order tofacilitatedesign testing and validation.Occasionallymay berequiredto travel asrequiredto other facilities,clientsor suppliers.Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours indifferent positions. Must be able tolift upto 50 pounds unassisted.

TheElectronicsEngineering Technicianis responsible formaintainingand upgrading prototypes, products,toolsand assemblies in support of Sigma Design’s electrical engineering activities. Provide technical support in the form of documentation, troubleshooting, and design reviews asrequired.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities
- Coordinate, construct and test prototypes consistent with engineering and other specifications through point-to-point electrical wiring, soldering, wire harnessassemblyand light mechanical assembly.
- Hand-place components on bare boards both for full assembly and for rework.
- Build test equipment, fixtures, and prototypes for engineering staff and clients.
- Troubleshoot designissues as theyarise.
- Conductcomponentlevel debug and provide solutions to complex problems.
- Independently perform tests orexperiments, andobserve and record results.
- Conductcharacterizationlevel testing and reporting for components and electrical systems.
- Providegeneral supportfor the engineering team.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment including tools and assembly areas.
- Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information securityoccurrences.
- Associates Degreepreferred.
- 5 years of recent and relevant experiencerequired.
- Experience and strong ability to read and createcomplexschematics, wiring diagrams
- Able to strictly follow engineering directions or procedures asrequired.
- Strong Experience with the use of Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Powersuppliesand other typical Electronics/Electrical Lab equipment.
- Experience with PLC programming, Visual Basic, or other software skillsrequired.
- Detail orientated with a focus on quality, execution and follow through, as well as ability to prioritize workload.
- Soldering experience including surface mount and fine pitch components.
- Hands on prototyping skills and mechanical aptituderequired.
- Strong written and verbal English language communication skills
- Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group
