Position Overview

The ideal candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of structural member terminology, steel layouts, bracing, platforms, stairs, and roof framing systems.
You will collaborate directly with structural engineers to transform field observations and engineering concepts into accurate, production-ready drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed structural and civil drawings from field notes, engineer sketches, and conceptual ideas
- Produce steel layouts including platforms, stairs, bracing, framing systems, and connection details
- Utilize the AISC Manual to identify structural member dimensions, weights, and specifications
- Develop bracing and connection details for steel structures
- Layout and detail concrete structures, including slabs, foundations, pads, and reinforcement
- Prepare rebar detailing and concrete reinforcement drawings
- Conduct site visits and translate field information into accurate design documents
- Assist with project evaluations, surveys, estimates, material requests, and design documentation
- Coordinate with engineers and designers across disciplines
- Assist in maintaining design standards and procedures
- Communicate with manufacturers and vendors as needed
- Travel to generating facilities and various project sites as required
- Minimum 6 years of structural drafting experience preferred
- Strong experience in structural steel detailing and concrete layout
- Proficiency in the latest version of Bentley Systems MicroStation Connect
- Strong understanding of structural members, shapes, and detailing practices
- Ability to develop connection and bracing details independently
- Valid driver's license required (driving between sites required; Smith driving test required)
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
- Local candidates only
- Associate degree (AA) in drafting/design or related field preferred (degree not required)
- Experience in power generation or industrial plant environments is a plus
- Experience working closely with structural engineers on field-based projects
- Onsite position
- Standard schedule: 6:00 AM β 3:30 PM
- 9/80 Alternative Work Week (AWW) option available
- Regular travel to generating facilities and project sites
