Description
The Swim Lesson Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the delivery of swim lesson programs at the park district. This role involves supervising swim instructors, maintaining program schedules, ensuring high-quality instruction, and providing a safe and enjoyable learning environment for participants. The coordinator serves as the main point of contact for parents, guardians, and participants, ensuring excellent communication and customer service. Performance requires the ability to work independently with the safety and well-being of all participants in mind.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Plan and coordinate swim lesson programs, including developing curriculum and class schedules for various age groups and skill levels.

Monitor class sizes and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate demand.

Work closely with the Aquatics Manager to implement program goals, policies, and standards.

Participate in the hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision of swim instructors.

Evaluate the performance of swim instructors and provide feedback to improve teaching methods and ensure safety compliance.

Schedule and assign Private Swim Lessons in a timely manner.

Serve as the primary contact for program participants and parents regarding class placement, cancellations, and progress reports.

Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues or complaints in a professional manner.

Distribute progress reports to participants and maintain accurate attendance records.

Ensure that all swim instructors adhere to safety guidelines.

Address any safety concerns promptly and report incidents to the Aquatics Manager.

Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of swim lessons and make recommendations for program improvements.

Gather feedback from participants and parents to assess satisfaction levels.

Maintain accurate records for each program session, including registration, attendance rosters, and staff schedules.

Plan, coordinate, and conduct mandatory training; attend district-wide part-time staff orientations and crisis training as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:

Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and a high school graduate or equivalent.

Minimum two years’ experience of swim instruction or related subject preferred.

Ability to adapt to and effectively use the District’s current software platforms.

Requires strong people and customer service skills and the ability to communicate.

LGI/W.S.I.T. certification preferred.
-
First Aid/CPR/AED required within 90 days of hire.
Work Environment:
The position requires standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, and seeing; flexibility in work schedule which includes days, nights, and weekends; is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions which may include varying weather conditions, and is subject to chlorinated water.
