Lead Access Control Technician

About the Role

LEK Technology Group is seeking an experienced Lead Access Control Technician to oversee and execute field installations of access control, CCTV, and structured cabling systems. This role serves as the primary technical lead on-site, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and applicable codes.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, technically strong, and comfortable leading technicians and helpers from rough-in through final system turnover.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead daily on-site installation activities and manage workflow for technicians and helpers
  • Interpret construction drawings, scope of work, and project specifications
  • Install, configure, and commission:
    • Access control systems (controllers, readers, locks, power supplies)
    • CCTV systems (IP and analog, including cloud-managed platforms)
    • Structured cabling systems (copper and fiber)
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of hardware, network, and integration issues
  • Program, test, and commission systems prior to customer acceptance
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and General Contractors regarding schedules, materials, and progress
  • Maintain jobsite safety and ensure compliance with LEK standards
  • Complete punch lists, testing, and project closeout documentation
  • Train, mentor, and support junior technicians

Documentation & Quality Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate labeling and installation documentation
  • Assist with as-built verification and testing reports
  • Support punch list completion and final system acceptance
  • Provide field feedback to support continuous process improvement

Technical Responsibilities

  • Install and configure door controllers, readers, electrified hardware, and power supplies
  • Perform device addressing, firmware updates, and system configuration
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity, PoE issues, and low-voltage cabling
  • Terminate and test copper and fiber cabling
  • Conduct system commissioning and customer demonstrations

Required Qualifications

  • 4–7 years of low-voltage or security system experience
  • Strong access control installation background
  • Ability to lead projects from rough-in through final turnover
  • Working knowledge of door hardware and electrified locking systems
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, VLANs, DHCP, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with platforms such as Verkada, Avigilon, Lenel, or similar systems
  • Fiber termination, fusion splicing, and testing experience
  • Commercial, military, or school construction project experience

Leadership Expectations

  • Serve as the primary on-site technical lead
  • Direct daily workflow and maintain installation productivity
  • Communicate job progress, risks, and material needs to the Project Manager
  • Ensure team adherence to quality and safety standards

Work Environment

  • Commercial construction sites
  • Indoor and outdoor work environments
  • Ladder and lift work required
  • Regional travel may be required (per diem provided when applicable)
