Commercial Millwork Painter

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Painter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in painting wood millwork, trim, doors, and other wood-based materials to ensure high-quality finishes of commercial projects. The Millwork Painter will work closely with other team members to meet project deadlines, maintain quality standards, and deliver a professional finish to all wood millwork components. After 90 days of service completed, the Painter will enter into a local Painters Union, opening up to health benefits, pension and vacation time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and paint various millwork items, including doors, trim, cabinetry, moldings, and other woodwork.
  • Sand, prime, and apply paint or stain to wood surfaces, ensuring smooth and even coverage.
  • Mix and match paints and stains to achieve desired color and finish.
  • Inspect millwork pieces for defects, sanding imperfections, and surface preparation before applying finishes.
  • Clean and maintain painting tools and equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Work with project managers and other team members to understand scope of work and deadlines.
  • Touch up and repair finishes as needed on-site or in the workshop.
  • Ensure that all painting meets company standards and client expectations for quality and aesthetics.
  • Maintain inventory of paint supplies and materials and inform the supervisor of any restocking needs.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a millwork painter or similar role (2 years preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of painting techniques, tools, and materials, especially for wood and millwork.
  • Experience in commercial millwork projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
  • Familiarity with various finishes, including oil-based, water-based, and stains.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time-management skills and ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Physical ability to stand, kneel, bend, and lift materials as required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required depending on the job site.
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Basic math proficiency

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of spray painting and advanced finishing techniques.
  • Experience with the use of spray equipment.
  • OSHA safety certification or familiarity with workplace safety regulations.
